RAM 3 Position, 4-Hole Channel Bracket

The RAM 3 Position 4-Hole Channel Bracket, part #31-CTA-CB4, provides a strong weld-on mount for adjustable trailer couplers. It is designed for trailers that need tongue height adjustment. As a result, it works well on equipment trailers, dump trailers, car haulers, and heavy utility trailers.

This channel accepts couplers and towing attachments that fit a 3″ wide adjustable channel. First, you weld the channel to a straight tongue or fabricated tongue assembly. Then, you bolt the adjustable coupler into one of the three available positions. In addition, the same channel style allows mounting of a lunette ring or clevis.

The bracket offers three mounting positions with up to 6 inches of vertical adjustment. Overall height measures 7-1/2″. It uses four 3/4″ diameter bolt holes. The vertical hole spacing is 2″ center to center. Meanwhile, the heavy 2-1/4″ channel thickness adds stability for demanding towing applications.

When paired with properly rated couplers and hardware, this channel supports up to 14,000 lbs. It ships in raw steel with a light oil coating. Therefore, it welds easily and works well for custom builds or trailer repairs.

For setup, match it with a channel-mount adjustable coupler head. Choose a 2″ ball coupler for 7K-class towing. Step up to a 2-5/16″ ball for heavier loads. Or, use a pintle-style lunette ring for pintle hitch applications.

Finally, install the channel square. Weld all seams fully. Tighten all hardware to spec. After the first tow, recheck bolt torque to ensure long-term performance.
