Description
The Collar Style Adjustable Coupler, part 31-CTA-296, gives you a heavy-duty hitch connection for channel-mount trailers. It fits a 2-5/16″ hitch ball and supports up to 12,500 lbs gross trailer weight for demanding tow jobs. You install it in an adjustable channel bracket (sold separately). This lets you dial in the perfect tongue height for your tow vehicle.
This coupler uses a sleeve-lock design with a spring-loaded collar that locks securely around the hitch ball. You pull back the collar and place it on the ball. Then you release the collar and seat it tightly into place. A pin-style fastener keeps the collar locked around the ball socket.
The coupler fits a standard 3″ wide channel, so it slides easily into most adjustable channel systems used in heavy trailers. The included Grade 8 nuts and bolts give a strong clamp-up when you position the coupler in the channel.
This product has a black powder coat finish that resists rust and corrosion from road spray and weather exposure. The steel construction stands up to heavy use. The self-adjusting head makes hookup fast and user-friendly, even when conditions are tough.
The coupler measures about 9-7/8″ from the center of the mounting hole to the front edge and spaces the mounting holes about 2″ on center. A 5/16″ pin hole diameter lets you add a coupler lock for extra security.
